Seed Library

The Merrimack Public Library hosts a Seed Library sponsored by the Moose Mountain Seed Savers and members of the Merrimack Garden Club.

The Seed Library is located on the Main Floor near the glass windows adjacent to the main stairwell entrance.

You are invited to take as many seed packets as you like. We only ask that you record which type of seeds to take on the clipboard so that the volunteers can restock the Seed Library.

A Seed Library is a collection of seeds that you can borrow to plant and grow your own food, herbs and flowers at home. After your plants mature and "go to seed,"
you save the seeds and return them to the library so they can be shared with others next year. There is no obligation to save and return seeds. We want you to learn the basics of gardening and seed saving first.

Our seed library:

  • Promotes community food security and healthy eating habits
  • Preserves indigenous and heirloom seeds varieties
  • Offers a low-cost way to experiment with new crops
  • Provides resources for see exchange and education
  • Creates opportunities for community engagement around gardening and food production
